MAKE A NEW COMMITMENT TO GOD
God has a “high calling” for each of our lives. It is found in God’s perfect will for each of us. How do we get there? Paul the apostle tells us in easy terms.
Philippians 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Make a new commitment to God. Ask God to give you a clean heart and a right spirit within you. Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Now you are ready for God to give you His vision of your life, for your life to be not what it is now, but what it could be with His divine perfect will at work within you. Dedicate time with the Lord. Set aside a special time that will not be interrupted. It is a time consecrated to God to study His word, pray for your needs, and then pray for others. After you have dedicated this sacred time to God and dedicated yourself to His high calling for you, then you are ready to “lay hold of the calling and purpose that Christ called you to fulfill through Him.” In your daily study of the Bible, begin in the New Testament and then read through the Old Testament. Expect God to speak to you through the word, for the word is spirit and it is life.
