The Supreme Relationship
The highest and most blessed of all human relationships is a deep personal relationship between man and His creator! A relationship between man and God breaks the limitations of life in the flesh, destroys satan’s works of destruction against us, and allows God to work everything together for our good according to His awesome power. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
God can do exceedingly abundantly above all we can ask or think, according to the (amount) of His power that works in us. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21). It is God dwelling in and through us who changes our old nature into His nature of goodness and holiness. Only through Christ’s and the Holy Spirit’s indwelling can we reflect the image of God.
Our relationship with God not only determines our power to overcome satan and his desire to destroy us, but determines whether we will live for all eternity in God’s presence. I am writing on this subject because I absolutely know that it is my relationship with God that gave me all of the wonderful experiences and blessings I have possessed in my lifetime. If God had not intervened in my life, I know my life could never be termed “blessed!”
The Spirit of God has been reminding me of how few people on this earth have heard the Spirit of God’s voice speaking within them or experienced the Spirit of God leading them in the purposes of God’s will. How can we be led of God minute by minute and day by day, without God dwelling within us and having that intimate personal relationship with Him? It is only through our relationship with God that we can have a “God directed” life. A flesh directed life is eternally dead to God, but a life lived through God’s Spirit will carry out God’s will and purposes in this life and is eternal and shall never die. “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God” (Romans 8:5-8).
Because I asked Christ to come and dwell within me and guide my life, I have been given divine opportunities, experiences, riches and blessings I did not deserve and only God could have produced. I have heard the voice of His Spirit within me countless times directing my life and my footsteps. I have experienced God’s divine intervention and work in my life over and over again during the last seventy years. From the moment I totally dedicated and consecrated my “all” to God, He took my life over and guided me in ways I could never have dreamed. When I grow weak or do not feel his spirit moving in my life, I cry out for His presence.
This is what God’s relationship with man is all about: He wants to live in us and love the world through us! He desires to prove to the world, by our Christ-led example, how God can take over our lives, and we can become more than overcomers in all things! Through Christ’s Spirit we overcome sin and satan! When we choose to dwell in Christ, we are empowered through God’s power to overcome and destroy the works of satan. It is through the light of Christ shining through us that we become “a light to the world!”
There is absolutely no question that all I have experienced and received is from God! Every word from God worked God’s will and brought to pass God’s ultimate purposes. His directions and words never failed to bring forth verification of God’s highest and best plans and purposes. I feel compelled by God’s love to share with you the path to eternal life and abundance that can only be obtained through a relationship with Christ and God the father! “ As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and Godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:3-4).
Only the Spirit of God indwelling and controlling our lives can make us “Christ-like.” His divine powers working within us, changes our lives from walking in darkness to walking in the light and understanding of God. God alone gives us an abundance of life, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and overcoming power! God’s miraculous interventions and miracles are all a part of His plans for us so His miracles can be seen by the world! Most people never consider such a relationship as either relevant or possible in their lives.
Many who have a connection with God only allow it to be a help in fulfilling their own desires and ambitions! I really do not know if human speech can even capture the awesomeness and reward of such a total inner and outer connection with God. I feel the great offer of God to share with us the power and glories of His kingdom must be shared because few know or can even contemplate such a close personal walk with God.
Jesus asked his disciples: “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels”(Mark 8:36-38)
I desire to have an unbroken relationship with God my Father, Christ His son, and the blessed Holy Spirit, more than I want anything in this world!! The world can offer nothing that compares with the blessings and opportunities brought by the presence of God in our lives. A life that is led by the Spirit of God and walks in His presence knows no impossibilities. If God wants us to have a certain thing in life, for His glory, you may be sure it will be ours. It does not matter how many mountains we must climb or how many battles with satan we must endure, God is always victorious over all the powers of hell. If we remain steadfast and obedient, nothing can block God’s will from being done. The only stumbling block for us is our own willful sins. For that reason satan works overtime to tempt us to sin.
Let us pray: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD” (Isaiah 55:8). Dear Savior, I surrender my life totally to You. I want the supreme personal relationship with You, dear Lord! Teach me Your thoughts and ways that I may live to please You. I want to experience all You have planned for me. I believe my life with You as Lord can make a difference in my life and in those around me. Shine the light of Your Spirit within me and point out my sins and failures. I ask You to live within me and live Your life through me. May my life show Your indwelling presence. Father God, in the name of Your beloved son, I ask for the fullness of Your spirit to come and live within me. Teach me, direct me, and help me to fulfill every plan You have for me. May I glorify You with my life and my words. From this day I surrender my life to Your divine will and purposes for me. Help me to fulfill all righteousness. May the world from henceforth see Christ dwelling within me. Lead me now dear Father through the indwelling Christ, and guide my life to glorify You and build Your kingdom. Amen.
Let this be a guiding principle of Your life: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
