The Sovereignty of God

“But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to Him who formed it, ‘Why have you made me like this?’ Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?” (Romans 9:20-21).

We have been given the highest honor bestowed on all of God’s creation. “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1).The witness to the world of our great honor is that Christ and our heavenly father dwell within us, and God’s purpose is that we might “shine with God’s glory and be a light to the world.”  We are “reborn” through Christ’s  power to “remove our corruption and put on God’s likeness.”  We are enabled through His Holy Spirit to dwell in the fullness of God and to intimately know Christ and our heavenly Father. We will dwell in the presence of God forever in His kingdom and rule and reign with Him.

Our second greatest honor is to reveal Christ and our heavenly Father to the world. We show the world the reality of Christ in us by living a Godly life. As His children we are to be a reflection of Christ and to bring honor and glory to Christ and our Father. “That you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God” (Romans 15:6-7).

As members of the family of God our minds and hearts should be fixed on the work God considers most important–winning souls to Christ. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9).  We need to cry out to the Lord until “our heart is aflame for lost souls!!!” As I examine myself, I know that the degree of my fervor for the work of God depends on the degree of my zeal for God himself.  Passion for the things of God is something we ourselves can assess. Are we cold, lukewarm, or passionate to finish God’s earthly work to this generation? The degree of our passion can be changed through seeking God.  The closer we are to Him, the greater the zeal.

The world is filled with darkness and in great need of light. We are the “light of the world.”  Our inner light is “dim” or a “beacon”  according to the degree of our seeking God for His infilling of the Holy Spirit.  Our light and zeal is also determined by our closeness to God. The energy and zeal we put into seeking God to be filled with His power and Spirit will determine the effectiveness of our works.  Our inner power is always evidenced by our love and zeal for God. “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him” (John 14:21).

Our God has a purpose for the lives of everyone born into this world. “This is the purpose (GOD’S PURPOSES) that is purposed against the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations” (Isaiah 14:26).  The world is ignoring the sovereignty of God.  Most unbelievers think their unbelief does away with the creator. Not so! Every one of us will stand before God either at the judgment seat of Christ (believers) or at the great white throne of judgment (unbelievers). “For it is written: ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God’” (Romans 14:11).

WE CAN IGNORE GOD, BUT WE WILL NEVER BE HIDDEN FROM HIS EYES!!! “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9).  GOD IS ALL POWERFUL!  “For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?” (Isaiah 14:27).  God is placing circumstances in our lives, roadblocks, and detours to bring each of us closer to Christ. It is up to us to choose the “narrow way” that  leads to God. “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).

Many are prideful and will not allow anyone to rule over them! My dear ones, if you reject and deny Christ, He will deny you at the judgment.  A wise man will test truth.  God says that  any man can test the word of God in sincerity and God will prove  to him that it is the truth of God.  “If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority” (John 7:17). He who rejects God, rejects the only light and the only One who can save us and give eternal life

God rules in the heavens and in all the earth, and nothing can escape His notice or stay His hands. “The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, “Surely, as I have thought, so it shall come to pass, and as I have purposed, so it shall stand’” (Isaiah 14:24).Every man will come into judgment before Him! If a heart sincerely seeks to know the truths of God, he will seek God and study His word. We will find Him when we  seek Him with our whole heart. The truth of God’s word will set us free from ignorance of God. “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7). Only a fool says in his heart, “there is no God!” “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none who does good” (Psalm 53:1).

The rules of life are set by God, and the only truth is in His words. Do not be fooled! “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7).The time is short and the evil we see all around us will increase. God is calling the people of the world: “That you would have a walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory” (1 Thessalonians 2:12).Psalm 91:1 tells us the only place of safety:“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Let us pray: Dear Lord and Savior and our heavenly Father, we know the hour is late.  Already we see the darkness and sin filling the world.  You have promised that Your children will be saved from the wrath to come.  Everything is fulfilled and the only thing we await is Your coming for us (the body of Christ) that we may be in heaven with You while You pour out Your judgment on the world.  Oh Lord, I thank You for saving me from my sins and giving me the privilege of being “a child  of God!”  Place upon me a greater burden and zeal for the lost. I pray that everyone reading this prayer who has not chosen to “call You Lord,” will bow before You today and confess his sins and ask You to be “Lord of his life!”  I pray for their families also. Oh God, bring the world to its knees before it is too late to join the redeemed as they meet You in the air–ever to be with the Lord. Amen.
